Student Prompt- A letter to younger me

Hello little Nathan,

Life can be happy, sad, hard, easy but one thing to remember is that it all happens for a reason. You do something wrong and you will learn from that mistake. Also, don't let people get to you. Whatever they say, do not let it hurt you. I all want to tell you to make good choices in what you foo, who you hang out with, and be kind to your family.

Free Post 11/18

Today I went to the Cross Country star championship meet. It was my first time and was better than I thought it was going to be. Since I am in high school I got to ride in the huge charter bus. I brought my laptop and my phone to entertain me on the way there and the way back. The ride was my favorite part. On the way there we also topped at a truck stop, i bought a bunch of candy and some lemonade. It was delicious.

When we got there we set up our team area. It was really just an awning that we claimed as our team area. Since it was connected to a churches youth room we got to play ping pong and use their restrooms. That was awesome. But the greatest thing is our team won. For the 18th year in a row we won the state meet. It was very exciting. I really hope to be in the top seven team one day and win.

I had a good time seeing Thor The Dark World with my uncle. He took me to brunch at City Cafe and then went to the movie. It was awesome, it is about Thor and his human love Jane. Thor must sacrifice and commit treason to save the 9 realms. Its is really awesome and the CGI effects are great and look extremely realistic.

In the previews I saw some cool movies to. Like Captain America The Winter Soldier, a new X-Men movie, and Anchor Man 2. Those really looked good to me and I'm probably going to see them with my uncle as well.

Island Simulation Response

I thought that the Island simulation went terrible. It was extremely disorganized, and there was no communication throughout the group. Someone should've have taken up the leader role. I had no want in taking up that job though. If I was on the island and there where 16 of us and 16 little kids we would need certain people on certain jobs. There would be two people on the kids, two on fire wood duty, two people for shelter, and 4 for food(hunting, gathering, scouting,...).

Some challenges we might face are the indigenous species. Things like natural predators there. Another challenge would be geographical features, a dry desert, dense jungle, maybe a volcano. Another would be disease and famine. Not having enough food would kill your and if you or the food is diseased with no medicine you could die. Maybe other things like disagreements within the group, learning to live with each other, native peoples on the island, etc.

Literary Anlysis

For the analysis I have finished the outline and am in the process of thinking about my draft. This projects is pretty intimidating but I believe I am doing well. I really enjoyed any work days we  had for the assignment. They helped me a lot and I also used the time we talked in the writing room.

Bames Jond

He emerges from the dark room, with a suite and tie. Pistol in hand he sprints down the hall way to the screaming mistress. Though the door is locked, this man with a peculiar set of skills. He has earned his way to triple 0 status. Three kills is all he needed. He succeeded, but this is a different story. The mistress screaming, he kicks down the door and discovers an empty room an a single radio.

The radio was relaying the terrifying scream. He fires two shots through the radio. Blowing it to shreds. As he leaves the, door locks, he turns around to see the other opposite wall opening in two. Once it opens it reveals a tank filled with crocs. And a women hanging from a rope. He hears a cackle. "Hahahaha!" It was Silver Toe his arch enemy. It was simple, kill Silver and save the girl. With three shots the maniac was dead, leaving only one problem. The girl hanging over the tank.

He checks his clip. One shot. He runs to the other said with an opening in the railing and usered the girls safety. He fired the shot straight through the rope and with a leap like an eagle catches her and lands to safety.

"Whats your name fellow?" the girls asks.

"The names Jond, Bames Jond."

Free Post 10/28

The freshmen retreat on Friday was a lot better than I thought it would. I was dreading having to go. In fact I was the last person to turn in their field trip form. I thought it was going to be hot and we would be there all day. But it wasn't that long and the things we did were really fun. My favorite was kayaking    , I saw a big egret in a little water area behind the bird houses. Also during the ride i picked up a big car rim. It was really awesome.

My next favorite activity was going into the woulds and trail blazing. Using the loppers, the cutters, is really fun. Though everyone wanted a pair so it was kind of difficult keeping up with them and not letting other people take them. I even cut down a small tree. This trip was very neat and im glad i went on it than scrubbing mold with coach Richard.

Talking as Your Character

Man today was an amazing day. The zoo was full of people. The flamingo exhibit was full of tourists. Being a flamingo is tuff though. Getting made fun of because your legs bend the other way its awful. And just because you are pink doesn't mean you're a girl. Because i'm positive that I'm a guy.

Im trying to go to sleep, but the other flamingos won't shut up. It mainly Bob, Kevin, and Jill. They're so annoying. Talking and constantly drinking the pond water. Man, I could just slap them.

Reading Response 9/23

I have an extremely good feeling about my short story. Writing this year is seems like it is going well so far. My character for the short story is a flamingo named Fil. I like his name to have and f instead of a ph. Fil is a good guy who lives in the zoo and thinks he is a good person. He thinks he's protecting people and helping the zoo. So far its flowing pretty well  for me. I am a tad bit worried on how I can make the story sound good. I'm not good with dialogue, so i'm going to need to practice. Im also want to use vivid details and make it a great story.

Im still reading Insurgent and its going well. Each character in the book keeps changing and keeps it very interesting. I am confused about Tris and Christina's relationship though. I think i have an idea why but i'm not positive.

Reading Response

Most of this week I spent working on mil narrative. I really enjoyed the paper. I was surprised because normally I don't usually like writing. I feel that I did well on this paper and I hope I enjoy reading later on in life. I also picked up on some of my old car and driver magazines.

My dad saved them for me. I read some old 2000 issues. It was really weird reading them all. I had around 20 magazines. It took me about an hour. Reading about all these cars that were new and are now old was fascinating, seeing all the design changes from 2000 to 2013. It was great.

E-book

For the class e-book I have now concerns for what i put in it. On the other hand I think the design should be a mixture of a professional book and each of the authors own flare in our fonts, photos, etc. For my own I would like to have an engaging font and some photos of me being goofy and other things I like. I also think that everyone else should do what they want for their own pieces.

For the title and cover I believe I say a  title that was [Insert Title Here], I really like that one. I also think it would be cool if the cover page had all of our signatures on it with a collage of random photos we choose, that would be amazing.

Insurgent is still a good book, but there are some other books that i want to read though so i think i might take a break from it. I really want to talk about my literacy narrative though. So far its going very well. I had a hard time choosing a topic at first and even after I talked to my teacher I still had a hard time choosing. I went home the net day and just started typing something that related to the topic we were given.

I chose that reading and I don't get along very well. And my scene is mostly in the first day of 5th grade reading class. It's pretty good so far and after i get my graded rough draft back I'm going to be happy to start revising it. So here is my reading log:

Dialogue

It's a bright Saturday morning, at the end of the first week of collage for Jim and Kevin. Jim being much more responsible wakes u early and makes his bed, drinks his coffee, yada, yada, yada... 

"Ahggg," moans Jim as he peered into the fridge. "Kevin!? Did you eat my breakfast burrito last night?

"I don't remember." Kevin moaned half asleep.

"Kevin, it's the first week of school and you're already stealing my food, do it again and i'm kickin you out!" Jim exclaimed. 

"Jeez bro, chillax, I didn't eat your burrito last night," Kevin said "your creepy health food hurts my stomach anyways."

"Then where the heck is my burrito?"

Kevin doesn't answer, he just walk back into his room and goes back to sleep. 

"This is going to be an extremely long school year." Jim commented as he pulls out the supplies to make another burrito.

Stuart Little Respons 9/2

Over this past weekend i watch Stuart Little. It is a really cool but different movie. Its about a boy and his adopted brother mouse learning to live with each other. It relates to similar problems now when brothers and sisters don't get along. Also that you need to get to know somebody before you deem them an outcast.

I dont always get along with my sisters and when i first met my stepsisters I didn't care much for them. Then i talked to them and we goofed around and now we all love each other. This movies is also really entertaining and cool My favorite part is when Stuart drive his remote controlled car around.

Reading Response 9/2/13

Insurgent is one of my all time favorite books and I haven't even finished it. The characters over the books have developed in many ways. Tris in Divergent was still fitting in to her new faction but in insurgent she seems to be known throughout all of the factions. Tris is also very sturdy. She gets hit and it and never backs down.

I get very confused with all of the factions and which has which trait. And which faction all of the dauntless members are. I guess that they just travel with Tris. All together its well organized.

Last weekend my two sisters, my little brother, and I went to sleep over at my grandmothers new house. It is a very long house. It has three bedroom, one of which I shared with my brother. Surprisingly we slept very well. But before that my siblings and i walked to the park. There is a swing set and a few slides. Instead of tiny rocks or sand as the bedding it is mulch. After a good thirty minutes we walked back home and played on our iPads. After we did that we all went to bed. When we woke up we made eggs and toast. It was very good. I really enjoy her new house and ill come back more often.

Summer Reading Response 8/19

Divergent was one of the best books I have ever laid my eyes on. It is an action packed adventure about a girl named Tris struggling to get through the initiation of her new faction, Dauntless. In this book people are separated by factions. You can be in a faction or be faction less. Being faction less is not good. My favorite part about the book are how the different factions acted.

What I wonder is how a society becomes like this. If this happened in the real world I would probably be the first to become faction less. Divergent is organized very well with just enough action for the masculine type and just enough romance for the feminine type. It is a perfect mix! I really enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to reading the next book in the trilogy, Insurgent.

Fruit/Free Post 8/18

Fruit, people eat it all the time. Fruit comes in many different colors, red,  yellow, green. It also comes in different shapes, flavors, sizes, weights, etc. Fruit can be a breakfast, lunch, or dinner food. It can be dried, frozen, blended, you name it! It can be mixed with other fruits or eaten by itself. My favorite ways are blended and with other fruits.

I like smoothies, because all of my favorite fruits are mixed together. Like bananas and strawberries. Its my favorite blend of fruits. I also enjoy a big bowl of fruit salad. My favorites are watermelons, green grapes, strawberries, cantaloupes, and apples. In my opinion fruit salads are the best way to enjoy fruit.

But fruit is amazing and healthy and everyone can enjoy it.
